Great Day For Alpine Portraits

NEX-5 (30mm, f/4.5, 1/60 sec, ISO200)

Yesterday I went for a mountain hike with a very good friend. She called the day before and I asked if I want to climb Rax ( a mountain close to Vienna ). So we went there. Despite the rather mixed forecast weather wasn’t that bad at all. We had no rain or snow fall but lot’s of sun. The reason why you don’t see a lot of sun in the images is because we had most of the sun in the lower part of the climb. Further up it became more cloudy and very windy. It was cold enough that the snow that had fallen overnight did’t melt. The air was cool and fresh. Just the right thing after an extremely hot summer.

Wonderful World, Krka Waterfalls, Croatia

NEX-5 (18mm, f/10, 1/200 sec, ISO200)

Summer is almost gone. Long, cold winter nights are in front of us. Today might be the last hot day in Austria and I have no problem with that. This summer was extremely hot and I am really looking forward for some fresh and cold air.

This is something you can do at the Krka waterfalls. But we did not bring our swim wear to the trip and hiked through the park. Continue reading

Just Another Sunset by the Sea

NEX-5 (55mm, f/5.6, 1/100 sec, ISO250)

Just another sunset at the sea. This time in Podstrana, a small town close to Split. After dinner we had a walk and I used my NEX 5 o take this shot. Traveling with littlebigtravelingcameras means more holiday and less worrying regarding equipment. It’s liberating! No big gear, no tripod just a small little camera. I start to wonder whether I will ever take my DSLR on a vacation in the future.

Diocletian’s Palace, Split, No pictures please!

FinePix X100 (23mm, f/8, 1/400 sec, ISO200)

Further south we reached the town Split. Split is famous for the Diocletian Palace. A Palace so big that you can confuse it with an old town. It’s 190 meters by 160 meters in size and housed 9.000 people back in the year 305 A.D. Columbus reached America almost 1.200 years later! Continue reading
