Early Walk On A Cold Morning. Riga, Latvia, March 2012

This March I went to Riga on a short business trip. Since it was my first time there I googled for images and found lot’s of wonderful images of the town center so of course I brought my Fuji X100. Before landing I saw frozen rivers and lakes. It was mid of March and spring has been arrived already in Austria but obviously not in Latvia. I had “survived” a massive cold front from Siberia when I was in Moscow a couple of weeks before so I got reckless and left my warm winter jacket and my gloves at home..

Thank God I had a winter coat and also was smart enough to bring a hat. Continue reading →

After finishing my USA trip NEX experience I want to post something different. And to make it clearly visible I have chosen another part of the world at a different time of the year.

Saint Peterburg is a beautiful city but people will most likely visit it in summer when the days are almost endless and everybody is on the street enjoying the sun. My first visit in August was like that. Now it’s December and it is wet, foggy and cold. Just like home except that it is also dark thanks to it’s latitude of about 60 degrees. That’s about the same as Helsinki. Instead of the famous white nights all you get is black days. Continue reading →

Introduction

This is my new website. Well it is not a website it´s a blog. My first website went online about 11 years ago. I updated it from time to time but within the last 2 years I did not change a thing beside keeping my picture of the month gallery alive. There I posted my favorite picture(s) of the month plus a more or less short story. It took a while to realize that this is nothing but a blog and it would be better to have a blog instead of my website.

This self portrait was shot in an elevator in the Palace of Culture in Warsaw this February. In case that you did not figure out the camera I used here is another one. I used my iPhone to take that one during our vacation in Croatia this June.
