NEX-5 (24mm, f/4, 1/160 sec, ISO200)
Jump back in time another year. September 2010. USA. California on the way to the Yosemite NP. Image shot with my second favorite small travel camera I just bought about a week before the trip. Despite I travelled with 2 DSLRs and a backpack full of lenses I took more than 60% of all shots with the Sony NEX 5. How come? It’s simple: In the cities like Las Vegas and San Francisco I took only the NEX to travel light. On our long beach walks I used only the NEX. With the camera stored away in a small bag I felt like a local enjoying the sunsets on the beach.
After the vacation I created a photo book in iPhoto and named it “On The Road” after the novel written by Jack Kerouac. And this was the best description for our trip. We drove more than 5.000km in 3 weeks. Most of the distance in the first half of the trip. During the second week we slowed down an enjoyed the coast of California.

The NEX 5 proved to be a great camera. My wife likes it too because AF is fast and exposure is very reliable. It’s idiot proof. Did I really say that? But it’s true. This is the biggest difference in-between the NEX and the Fuji X100. You can give the camera to somebody else without explaining a thing and he has no problems to get good results. You can´t do that with the Fuji. Most of the shots I will post from the NEX are auto everything.
And one last very important tip: Keep the windscreen clean.
