Wigwam

Sometimes it really pays to go (or drive) the extra mile.

When we finally arrived in our hotel the rain stopped and I saw the orange sky in the distance. Even though I was tired I knew that I have to drive down to the Wigwam hotel again because there was a good chance to take a nice shot. My wife stayed in the hotel. When I arrived at the Wigwam hotel the sky looked like it was burning but I had only a couple of minutes because the orange part got smaller quickly.

In total I took only three images. The one with the wigwam hotel room in  front. The next with my rental in front and a pick up truck passing by and finally my favourite shot where the green glowing Wigwam Motel neon sign builds a nice contrast to the orange sky.

Unfortunately the orange part has become rather small compared to my first shot which only shows that you can’t be fast enough when the light changes quickly. I’m still happy that I got the shot It was one of my favourite pictures from this vacation.

Shortly after I took the shot the burning sky was gone. I turned around, took a shot of the road sign and drove back to my hotel.

*Yes the title of this blog post is short but so are the lyrics from Bob Dylan.
