Another one from my lost trip of 2015.

In this vacation I used to shoot with four different cameras from three different manufacturers. What sounds like fun isn’t because of the vastly different user interfaces but the files are even worse. Or better to get the files of three cameras to match regarding their look is a real challenge. In 2015 I had not time to play with this and when I finally got the time I travelled to the USA again.

This time (in 2016) I took “only” two cameras and they were both from Fuji. Post processing was a breeze so I started to make blog posts of those images. But since my blog also serves as a travel diary for me I had to deal with the images from 2015 at some point. All what was needed is a pandemic and a fast computer (a MacMini M1).

So here we are in the year 2015 at the horseshoe bent in Utah where I got the final confirmation that I have a problem with heights. It’s not that I suffer from a fear of heights it’s more that I don’t trust myself when I’m standing on the edge. There is something that somehow calls me and that’s scary. That’s why you can’t see the river at the bottom of the image above.

I would do anything for a good picture but I won’t do that.

Utah means amazing nature and one of the top spots in Utah is the Arches NP in Moab. It’s not an insider location though. Every years there are more hotels popping up but that doesn’t mean that the prices go down. It seems that the barely manage to meet demand. The only real city in the area is Moab and as a consequence this little town is as busy as it gets. Make sure that your are either early for dinner or that you reserve a table.

Usually I don’t like those touristic hotspots but they are hotspots for a good reason and because of that you can’t avoid it. Same is true for Zion NP that also has to be experienced at least once.

As you can tell from the snow on the mountains behind our rental it is early summer. June to be more precise which means that it is already very hot and hiking is limited to morning and evening hours. That’s why we decided to hop from one spot to the other by car and walk only for short distances on the first day.

I think this is what most people do but it is a mistake. I recommend but on good boots and at least go for one longer hike here.
