End Of Summer

Tomorrow summer will be gone. The hottest in the history of Austria. I’m happy.

Don’t get me wrong. I love summer. I love long, warm and sunny days but this year I had more than enough of it. Enough sun and enough heat. It started with a three week business trip in Asia in March. Followed by a one week trip to India in April. A rather warm May followed by a 3 week vacation in the South West of the USA during a heatwave. The temperatures ranged in between 37 to 45 degrees Celsius most of the time. When we arrived  back home in July it seemed that the heat went back with us. We had a massive heatwave in July and August with more than 15 days over 35 degrees Celsius. And it was extremely dry too. The gras in our garden looks horrible.

But before people here start to think that they live in Morocco it will be over and that is a good thing. I’m already dreaming about winter. But before winter I hope there will be a good autumn with fresh air and lots of sunshine. I can’t wait for that.

Readers of this blog know that I love California and the deserts of the South West of the USA. I also love busy cities of South East Asia. But I don’t like the idea of an endless summer.

That’s why I post some winter pictures from the Austrian alps in the middle of August. Hope next winter will be cold with lots of snow.

All images shot with the Sony A6000 plus the Sony 18-200 OSS LE, the last one converted into black and white.
