City Of Lights

The first time in 2010 we visited only the strip. This time we also went to see Fremont street. The old part of Las Vegas or the place where Las Vegas is still a little bit like what it used to be. Casinos with a clear focus on gambling, clubs for gentlemen, all that stuff that does’t really fit into modern, family friendly Las Vegas around the strip.

Of course they try to bring more tourist in this part of the town now. There is a big roof covering the whole street that acts as a gigantic screen. After the sunset they turn it on.

It’s loud and it’s packed. We walked straight through the street and entered a mall on the other side for dinner. After sandwiches from Subways we went back.

I took a lot of images with my XP1 and the 14mm lens attached. It felt just great. I wished I had that camera when I started traveling about 25 years ago. Small and light but with a fantastic image quality also in low light.

With todays cameras it is almost too easy. It’s idiot proof. Just point the camera somewhere and push the button. You will end up with a sharp, well exposed and colorful photo no matter if there is bright daylight or night. Now I want to have a time machine to bring me back to 1990.

BTW: Elvis lives. I saw him in Las Vegas.
