Postcards From Paradise

The last day in at the sea and close to the end of our vacation. Time to send some postcards.

We are still in June 2015 on our 4th trip to the USA. Meanwhile we have three more road trips in the USA behind us and we are looking forward to trip number eight. Why do we keep coming back? Because for us it is the perfect location. There is beautiful nature, the weather is excellent and most of all there is space. An abundance of space. And that means that we can relax from the very first to the last minute.

Most of the times we almost forget to write and send some post cards. That year we sent it home only a couple of days before our return. As a consequence the post cards arrived after our return. At least I documented the moment. In the USA you don’t even have to leave your car to send a postcard.

In one of my last blog post I mentioned there is just one thing which is better than a sunset and that’s a sunrise. Well, that’s not completely true. A sunset on the beach is another thing I can think of.

This is our last evening at the beach before we get back to Las Vegas and then finally back home. This is always a tough one. We live in a very nice place in Austria just outside of Vienna but of course the sea is far and because of that sunsets on the beach are only available on vacation. Maybe that’s the ultimate best thing: a sunset at the beach while on vacation.

Other than the day before we weren’t hungry and decided to stay until after sunset when the light is best and the most amazing colours come out. And nature really gave us its best. “You are

What a sunset! What a beautiful end of a beautiful day in beautiful California. We sucked the magic in as good as possible because we knew that sea or no sea those sunsets are rare anyway. Glad we didn’t miss that one.

On that vacation I was a little heavy on gear and I complained about that already. Too many different cameras and big and heavy lenses but I’m glad that I had the fantastic Canon EF 70-200/2.8 II IS L USM with me for the last shot. I don’t miss the size and weight of my full frame gear for sure but sometimes I miss this lens.
