To Vegas Baby

South West of the USA again. For the third time within 4 years. Three weeks with starting and end destination Las Vegas. To Vegas Baby!

A lot changed since the first trip in 2010. Most of all the much lighter camera gear. But this first post about my vacation is just a reminder for me how long it takes to get here. We flew from Vienna to Washington where we were stranded in a small and boring airport for a couple of hours before we continued to our final destination.

I took a couple of pictures just to fight boredom. The first shows us resting our feet on our cabin luggage. I technique I developed in one of my travels and one I recommend to you if you suffer from tired legs after a long flight.

The second shows me enjoying “We are the Millers” on my laptop. Another thing I recommend. Get some movies on iTunes and a good noise cancelation headphone to get some rest and entertainment. In the background my wife tries to get some sleep before the last flight.

When we finally arrived is was around midnight or about 8am CET. A very long day of traveling has come to an end. Of course just after we collected our bags, got our car and found our hotel.

Next time I will just take a taxi to the hotel and back to the airport the next day. Taxi rides are very cheap in Las Vegas and it is just so much more convenient if you don’t have to deal with finding the car rental company when you are with all your luggage and you are exhausted from the travel.

Next day was sunny and warm. What a surprise! 🙂

The last image I took in a supermarket. I planned to reduce the amount of beef I’m gonna eat on the trip but I definitely didn’t come here for vegetables and margarine.

As you can see. A lot of pictures I have taken with the new star in my lens collection: the fantastic Fuji XF 1.4/23. What a lens! I think this will become my second lens for my business trips to Asia replacing the 1.4/35 even though it is a monster when compared to the 1.4/35 and its lens shade is the ugliest I have ever seen. Easily topping the ugly lens shade of my beloved XF 2.8/14. Fuji had a excellent start with the lens shades for the 18mm and the 35mm but then they start to listen to their customers and that’s usually where problems start.

Fuji, forget asking your customers – You know it better!
