Life’s A Beach

No I think it’s: Life’s a bitch. But sometimes life can be good too. Very good. I guess to live in a house on the beach helps.

I live on in a small village just outside of Vienna, right in the Viennese forest. Everything is green, there is almost no traffic, it’s quiet and the air is fresh and clean. If I want city life a 35 minutes drive gets me to the center of Vienna. Does it get any better than this? Of course it does.

Just ask the lucky owners of these houses. Located directly on one of the many beautiful beaches of California. A house on the hill surrounded by forest is nice but you can’t beat living at the sea. At least that is what I think.

But maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the constant noise of the waves of the Pacific ocean is just annoying and keeps you from sleeping. And of course the is the traffic noise coming from the nearby highway. All year long there a tourists or beachcombers that clatter through your “backyard”. Maybe life is like hell here? I don’t know. 😉

And what do they see when they look out of their windows? Oil rigs!

On my first trip to the South West and California I used my Sony NEX 5 for my beach walks. I very nice and capable camera. This time I took a “real” camera. My Canon 6D plus the two zooms. All these shots were taken with the Tamron 70-300VC. A cheap and light but very capable lens. I got it as a light alternative to the 70-200 IS II. Combined with the 6D you get a very powerful combo. AF is on the slow side but accurate, VC works and the image quality is very good.

With all the great cameras and lenses available today it seems that “life’s a beach” for gear heads.
