These are not the best images I took when I was in California but they are needed to tell the story of the trip. We crossed Tioga pass ( almost 10.000 feet / or over 3.000 m ) on May 12th. It’s obvious that not long ago the pass was still closed because of snow. May is great to visit the south west of the USA. Maybe April is even better to see the desert bloom but it would be most likely too early to cross this pass. But then June would be better for the meadows here. There was still lots of snow and even a partly frozen lake. Too early for blossoms and squirrels so we moved on.

This little fellow I found at the parking lot where we climbed the little hill. When I were back at the car I saw two marmots. The first images I took from some distance but the marmots were used to people. They looked beautiful in their winter coat. A last sign of winter.
