Tequila Sunrise

Another visit to Passau and another chance for balcony photography. Of course balcony photography is not a real thing and the reason is simple.

Though it’s very convenient the view from the balcony seldom warrants to take pictures on a regular base. Here it’s different. The view from the balcony of my mother in law is just perfect. A view of the old town of Passau from high above and there is nothing that obscures the view. And most important: Thanks to the weather it always looks different.

The two mornings when I was there were nothing special but still very beautiful. On the second morning there was a massive fog and I preferred that to the rather boring sunrise the day before. I also covered the light before sunset but to give you an idea of the scenery.

I usually prefer a longer focal length for this type of shot and my mother in law also shoots 90% of her images with the Tamron 70-300 for Nikon Z. I could have borrowed the Tamron from her but really wanted to know ho much of a restriction my standard zoom is. 120mm is not that bad at all. The 24-120 is a really versatile lens for landscape photography and on a high res camera you can always crop in a little if necessary.

When I started in photography I was into landscape photography. Mostly because I grew up on the country side and initially my radius was small. There was no big city nearby but plenty of nature. After I moved to Vienna I changed to architecture- and street photography. And I used to love bird and close up photography.

Today I seem to be less patient. I’m into travel and street photography. Both rather fast paced but I really enjoyed to watch the light to change that morning on the balcony.
