When you drive through the South West of the USA you pass by what looks like a junkyard but it is not.

It’s more a car dealership where the cars you can buy need a little work before you can take them for a ride. I love US cars from the 60s and the 70s so those places are magic for me. Even though I visited this place just a year ago I had to stop again to take a couple of images. The other visit you can find under the perfect blog post title: Rust Never Sleeps.

I only took a few images of the cars and the reason is that we were approached by the owner and his massive dog. We had a nice chat even though I explained right from the start that we are just tourists and not going to buy anything. He had no problem with that and told me that a lot of tourists stop by to take pictures.

There are still enough real customers because those old cars grow increasingly popular and it easy to see why. Their design is great and if it’s not they have character and soul and their engine sound fantastic. Something you can’t say about most modern cars. Today a car is much safer and efficient but also as exciting as a washing machine.

The owner was a really nice guy but stupidly I missed to take a portrait of him. Maybe next time and then I will also take an image with my iPhone to have the precise location.

In the USA the roads are wide but sometimes even those roads are not wide enough. What was surprising was the speed of the support car clearing the road for the super wide houseboat. The boat was so wide that it almost took both lanes.

That only works if the roads are so straight that you can see upcoming traffic from far away. Those straight roads are also the natural habitat of those cool US cars and land yachts from the 60s and 70s. And as much as I love those cars as much would I hate to drive them on our narrow and twisty roads back home. Those cars simply belong here and I hope that they will have a long life.
