One more from the Joshua Tree. A beautiful sunset in the desert!

At sunset I focused on the orange coloured sky close to the horizon. I used a tele zoom lens and exposed for the sky to get this beautiful silhouettes of the Joshua trees.

Closer to the exit of the park there are no more trees so I used the mountain range as the subject for my pictures but something was missing. I needed a foreground. A passing car! After the first car I realised that I should crop in tighter and that I need more compression.

An almost perfect shot except that the car was a VW. Not exactly what I wanted. This is the USA. Luckily I didn’t have to wait long before a Ford Mustang passed by.

That was the shot that I was looking for. An iconic US car driving into the sunset. And the Mustang is perfect for that thanks to its very distinctive rear lights.

And of course because it is the Mustang. I car named after the famous wild horses. It doesn’t get any more iconic than that. I had the picture I wanted and we were good to go. One more picture of a VW Beetle passing by and one more of the trees taken from behind the wheel just before we left the park. Now it was time for dinner.
