Next morning it was\u00a0finally sunny again. When we traveled in Ireland and Scotland and the weather was poor I used to say “We didn’t come here for the sunshine.” Here it’s different. We exactly came here for blue skies and sunshine.<\/p>\n

Just a couple of clouds left but beautiful soft early morning light so I decided to take a couple of shots before we went for breakfast.<\/p>\n

I remember when Audi introduced its Q7 it looked like a monster. It was just huge compared to the SUVs of the other car makers. The Buick Enclave we drove during our vacation is slightly bigger than the Q7 but here it doesn’t look excessive. Here it is nothing but a normal crossover and beside the GMC truck it looks even tiny.<\/p>\n

I took a couple of shots of the nice desert scenery across the road but the images looked boring so I decided to take some pan-shots of the trucks that passed by. I decided to use 1\/60s to make sure that the scenery doesn’t get lost in massive blur. Unfortunately the truck was a little bit too long and I cut off it’s back. I had more luck with the white pick up truck. It\u00a0was the best shot I took this morning.<\/p>\n

We had a perfect American breakfast: plenty of everything with tea, coffee and orange juice and I bought a very nice hat for my wife and of course a fridge magnet in the small shop beside the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Some musings about camera gear:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fantastic thing about the Fuji X-T1 and the kit zoom lens is that it is such a small and unassuming combo. You don’t feel embarrassed if you take it out in a restaurant. You don’t look like a gear head or geek.<\/p>\n

That’s also the reason why I prefer the Ricoh GR over the Fuji X100 on business meetings. The Ricoh GR looks like a normal compact camera while the Fuji X100 doesn’t. Unfortunately the Fuji X100 cameras are so much better for social photography. I really miss the quality of flash images, the superior white balance and the much better and faster AF in poor light. And the shallower depth of field. I miss my Fuji X100.<\/p>\n

I’m a big gear head. My New Years resolution was that I don’t buy a camera in 2015. It’s the 9th of February and I already have doubts that I can make it. Help!<\/p>\n
