A couple of years ago I was a bird shooter. I just loved it. In spring I shot images of birds at the great Neusiedlersee NP. In winter I spent hours in the freezing cold in the park beside Schoenbrunn Castle. Today it’s different.<\/p>\n

No more bird shooting. I don’t own a long lens anymore. Or a fast APS-C DSLR. Today I only have a full frame DSLR and my longest lens is the Canon 2.8\/70-200 IS II plus 1.4 TC. But today I own a house and a big garden and each winter I set up a couple of bird feeders. Some of them very close to the house.<\/p>\n

Today I can shoot pictures of the birds through my window while wearing nothing but my pyjamas. No need to freeze outside. But there is a downside too. The windows are real high tech. Three sheets of glass with noble gas in between. Great for insulation, not so great for light transmission. Just have a look at the EXIF data!<\/p>\n

To be honest I would love to shoot outside but the birds in my garden are too timid. Not like the ones in the park that were used to hand feeding. So at the moment I’m stuck to shooting through my window.<\/p>\n
