The German song title fits even though the model is not German but the photographer is an Austrian. It’s Manfred Baumann and he was holding an on stage lecture on beauty photography.\u00a0He explained how to set up the flashes and how to make sure that the model looks good.<\/p>\n

I think to hire a good looking model is a good start.<\/p>\n

There were a lot of people and I didn’t make it in the first row but I think that was a good thing. I took my Canon 6D and the Sigma 1.4\/85.<\/p>\n

I brought my big camera because a photography fair is always a good chance to take some shots. The Sigma portrait lens was perfect for this occasion because of it’s super fast f1.4 that helped to put the focus on the beautiful model and trow everything else out of focus. I shot it in between f1.4 and f1.8. It’s such a fantastic lens. Sometimes, in weak moments, I still want that f1.2 monster from Canon but it’s price is prohibitive. I have seen some amazing pictures taken with that lens.<\/p>\n

But the Sigma is also very impressive. While I use it at f2.8 most of the time for head shots it can be used wide open.<\/p>\n

It was a little bit tricky to get some shots without Manfred Baumann or the others blocking the view but I managed to get some. My favorite shot of the series was the one shot at f1.4 with the beautiful flare caused by the side light flash.<\/p>\n

Now where do I get a model to practice beauty photography? Or do I have to return to cat pictures? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
