During our last trip we spent only one nigh in Las Vegas. This time it’s two. Main reason: the very low hotel rates. The first day we arrived late. We stood up early that day to capture the morning light on our way through Death Valley. We were tired but of course we needed to have a little walk after all the driving. After check in and a shower we went out.<\/p>\n

Just in time for the blue hour. I took my Fuji XP1 that got only little use during the first day of the trip but for Las Vegas I did not even consider to use my Canon 6D. I got used to travel light when walking around.<\/p>\n

I also got used to the 14mm lens on the XP1 but here in Las Vegas I has a problem using it. \u00a0It was too wide. The buildings seemed to small to fill the frame. I changed to the 18mm lens which improved things. I think it is the very wide strip that creates the problem. The distance in between the two sides of the road is massive.<\/p>\n

What still amazes me is the colors and the tones I get right out of the box of my XP1 when it comes to shoot at and after sunset. There is nothing like it. It’s the Velvia setting I love most despite some negative reports in the net. Yes I know it’s not like the film ( I shot almost all the time with it before digital ) but it is still a great choice for a lot of situations. Unless VSCO will make a Velvia profile I will use the JPEGs from my XP1.<\/p>\n
