This winter was almost endless. When I came back from my South East Asia trip there was snow again. But this week we got a first glimpse of summer. Yes after 2 days of spring we jumped straight to summer. On Thursday, the 18th of April we got 27 degrees Celsius. Of course that’s too warm for April but nobody complained. The week before we walked through snow. Today it’s raining.<\/p>\n

After I got myself a X Pro-1 for christmas I didn’t use the Sony RX100 a lot anymore. I took it with me on my SEA trip but mainly as a back camera if the X Pro-1 should fail. But that didn’t happen and so the RX100 got no use. I take it with me all the time I don’t want to bring a camera. It sounds strange but it is a “just in case there is something special”-camera for me. Most of the time nothing special happens in my daily life. I got to work and back home. A short car ride to the outskirts of Vienna and back. Nothing special there.<\/p>\n

But I took it for our after work walks. I almost have forgotten what a fine camera the RX100 is. It doesn’t offer the great shooting experience of my X Pro-1 or the great results but image quality is truly impressive. Not even for a camera of this size. At ISO 400 or below it beats a 5 year old DSLR unless it’s a full frame.<\/p>\n

The melting snow causes small streams of water everywhere on our path and in the forest. First greens and plants ready to burst into life. This winter I considered to leave my home and go to California but I don’t think I can live without the seasons. I’m used to it, no I love it. You can’t cherish summer without winter.<\/p>\n

I’m still using VSCO to alter my RX100 RAW files to make them look better. For these images I used the Fuji 160C setting as it is and boosted saturation a little bit.<\/p>\n
