On the weekend I have planned a day of photography in Bangkok. Unfortunately I had a couple of beers to many the day before.<\/p>\n

I’m not proud of it and because I’m not that young anymore I was almost dead the next day. After a very late breakfast I decided to go to Chinatown to take some pictures. I did not feel well but I had to go.<\/p>\n

Of course it was super hot and the sun was beating down like crazy. Not the best recipe to treat a serious hangover. I went straight to the roofed part of the market to get out of the tropical sun.<\/p>\n

But I did not feel well. I kept more distance than normally but I was still able to get some shots. The 14mm lens is my lens of choice for tight places. It gives a very nice overview where a longer lens would be too tight.<\/p>\n

But you need to get close to avoid that “shot from a distance look”. Something I did not manage that day. Don’t drink and shoot I guess. No hangover next time.<\/p>\n

And I will go there either in the morning or late afternoon. The light is not the problem but the place is very quiet around lunch time. This little market is still one of my favourite places in Bangkok. This is real Chinatown. You can’t find fridge magnets and other stuff for tourists here but you can get dried fish stomach, fish skin, live frogs and snakes and a lot more to enlarge your food horizon. I have not found maggots and grasshoppers here but I’m sure they are sold here as well somewhere. Or some fried flowers for the vegans.<\/p>\n

But I was not ready for some adventurous food today. And also not for durian, the king of fruit. A fruit that smells so ugly that it is not allowed in taxis, airplanes or hotels. You can smell the fruit long before you pass the shop.<\/p>\n

Of course I tried it two times but I don’t like it. If you outside of\u00a0South East Asia there is no chance to get durian but I try to give you and idea. Cook a chicken without salt and pepper and burry it in your backyard.\u00a0Wait. Dig it out after a couple of weeks and enjoy! Sounds disgusting? You are right. So is durian.<\/p>\n
