This shot looks like a picture from the 50s or 60s but I took it the day before yesterday. With my phone that I also used to post process the shot.
In total it took me about a minute. Stand up from my table, snap the shot with my phone, open the Lightroom app and push the BW film preset. Done!
Let’s go back to the 50s or 60s. If you wanted to take this image back than you would have to put your camera on a stable tripod, take the shot, wait till you have taken another 35 frames, rewind the film, put the film roll into an envelope or bring it to a shop, wait a couple of days to get back the developed slides or negatives. Than you could have had your favorite shot framed and hang it on your wall. But you don’t have to go back 60 years even just 20 years back it would not have been any different.
Today I can upload this image on my blog and seconds later people from all over the world can see it. Amazing! Maybe this is not the best photo to illustrate the benefits of modern technology but I think you got the point. We live in great times where people all over the world can share their images and their experiences.
I took both images in the Cafe Westend in Vienna where I met a good friend for lunch. This is one of the less fancy coffee houses in Vienna but it is well over 100 years old and some of its interior is older than me. Below is the original shot (incl. EXIF data) to prove that the image is from 2015.
BTW: The clock didn’t show the correct time.
