In Autumn when it gets cooler there is only one thing to do. Drive South!
While autumn was warm and dry so far it rained when we started our trip to Croatia. This is the first vaccination outside of Austria since a little virus changed everything and the life of everyone.

The rain didn’t last long and when we arrived I took this shot out of our hotel room. Blue sea, blue sky – we are finally there. The first time at the sea since autumn 2019 when we walked the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
This autumn the USA was not an option because of the travel restrictions. Europeans are still not allowed to enter but strangely most European countries have opened up already to most foreigners including citizens of the USA.
Anyway we did the next best thing and drove to Croatia. The sea is beautiful there, crystal clear and blue.

I can’t say how much I have missed the sea and also to be just somewhere else. The last 1,5 years we didn’t leave Austria and for a couple of weeks we didn’t even leave our house. The restaurants in Austria have been closed for five months. So we cooked at home and now and then we got some take away meals. I remember how it felt when we finally went to a restaurant again with friends.
And now we are sitting here. It’s autumn but it is still warm. We sit in a restaurant outdoors and the sea is just a couple of steps away. There are seagulls, a warm breeze and chatting people and it front of me is a plate of grilled squid Dalmatian style. Life is back and it is good!

After dinner we walked back to the pier to watch the sun set into the sea. There is nothing like it.
We love sunsets and we love the sea so of course the best thing is to have both. This vacation is only a couple of hours old but we went from a rainy and cold morning at home to the beautiful and warm sunset here.

It’s a long time since I used my camera but that wasn’t a problem at all. That is the beauty of the Fuji X-Pro2. It’s simplicity. There are big marked dials instead of customisable buttons so there is no need to remember anything.
And with this vacation it was the same. The last time was a long time ago but I still remembered what to do: to enjoy life!
