Cold as Ice

This winter is too warm again like so many before but one thing is different: I can’t remember so many icy windscreens.

When I still lived close to the centre of Vienna I had maybe two winter mornings where my car was covered with a layer of ice. Since I moved out on the country side it happens much more but nothing compares to this year’s winter. It happened almost every single morning.

Of course it’s mainly annoying. I can’t just get in my car and drive to work. Instead I have to start the engine, turn on windscreen, mirror and seat heating and scrape the ice from the side windows. If I’m happy and it’s not too cold the heating wires meanwhile removed the ice on the rear and on the windscreen.

I guess that most of the time I was just too busy to realise how beautiful those frosted windows looked or more likely it was just too dark.

Now close to the end of the winter there is enough daylight and sometimes even sun so I started to take pictures with my iPhone. But I made a mistake. I already turned on the heated windscreen so in the images above you can see the heating wires if you look close enough. Still beautiful!

But now please give us spring!
