Summertime

FUJIFILM X100F (23mm, f/4, 1/100 sec, ISO320)

This summer was very warm and dry and it seemed endless. What is the single best pictures to honour this summer? For me the decision was simple. The image above.

I took it on a birthday party of a very close friend of ours. She turned fifty and threw a fantastic garden party. There was a band, a dedicated photographer and even a photo booth. So I was able to relax but of course I had to bring a camera. I chose to take my new Fuji X100F. The perfect choice for such occasions.

The Fuji X100F is the perfect camera for such events because of it’s excellent low light capabilities but even more so because it’s the perfect social camera. Nobody feels intimidated by this little camera that looks like an old Leica. Perfect to get relaxed faces when shooting portraits.

But there are no portraits in this blog post and the answer is simple. I have not checked if the people are fine to have their images on the internet. I know I’m old fashioned. Most likely everything ended up on facebook or elsewhere anyway.

So you have to trust me on that: The X100 series is a killer camera for portraits. Just make sure that you don’t get to close. Here is an image that I shot with the original X100 on my first day out with the camera about six years ago. There will be more samples here from the X100F in the near future. The X100F is very much like the X100 only better in almost every aspect.

Back to the first image. For me it shows what summer is about. To have a good time with friends outside the house and to enjoy those long, warm days of summer.
